JUST A JUNCO

It's a beautiful cool day in the mountains.  This whole last week feels like fall is really arriving.  I'll be getting out more and walking the local area and also around other lakes here in the mountains.  Our evenings are getting down into the 40's.  We will have a bit of a warm up over the next week and then cool again.

PHOTO FROM A NEARBY ARBORETUM IN THE MOUNTAINS WHERE I LIVE

I took this photo awhile ago and forgot about it.  I came across it again a few days ago.  When i first saw these seeds or whatever they are, they looked like birds.  I plan to go back soon and hope to find the bushes again where these were on.

Any help naming this is appreciated.  I'll try to do a google search and see what comes up.

A SURPRISE ON MY WALK WHEN i PASSED THIS STATUE AWHILE BACK

It's beginning to look like spring here in the mountains.  I will be able to get out and do a lot more photographing of nature.

A few years back I came across an area where this statue was placed among the bushes.  I took a few photos of it and hadn't seen it in awhile until going through my photo files today.

BEEN A VERY LONG TIME SINCE i'VE POSTED ANYTHING

Following too much on social media like Instagram, Twitter etc...that I have kind of let my blogs take a back seat.  I'm wanting to get back into blogging again.

Anyway...took a trip about two  weeks ago down the back side of the mountains into the high desert of Hesperia and Apple Valley.  We stopped at Hesperia lake because I like to get there around the time I know the pelicans have arrived.  A lot of trees are base still and it will be more beautiful as March and April flowers and trees start blooming.  Whether winter or any other season I love to stop here for a walk around this rather small lake.

First some geese,

I was far away and saw this shape in the tree and thought it was a trash bag or something that the wind had blown into the tree.  We have had a lot of wind this winter so it made sense..  I then took this photo and so sad it appears a goose was trapped in the branches.  I have no idea how long it has been like this.  I watch for quite awhile and it never moved so I assume it was dead.  Sad.

BACK TO POSTING AGAIN

It's been a long three months or so.  Much has happened and at least for now I will try posting again.  Being down at the central coast of California for about three months I had the opportunity to visit some beach towns when i would get a break in my busy schedule.  Shell Beach became one of my favorite places.  Hundreds of pelicans would visit every day and I have taken hundreds of photos.

I've missed blogging and visiting  blogs and will start back soon.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS

I hadn't been back to this blog in quite awhile and was surprised I missed them.

I enjoyed each one, thank you.

I saw this rock with this quote in Yucaipa at a wildlands walk through a trail.

I couldn't agree more with the quote.

On this first day of meterologic fall I feel really inspired that fall is here even though it won't feel like it for a few weeks... but,  because of the angle of the light filtering through the trees in the yard - I can feel a difference.

I know I have a frog outside somewhere near my window.  There's no water around in my yard except in pots for the birds so I'm guessing it is this:  "Frogs who live on dry land are commonly referred to as land frogs, terrestrial frogs or toads."  Every morning I hear it  outside my window.   I have tried to find it but no luck.  I'm always reminded of a frog i sketched one time and then using a cool app (Photofunia) I put my sketch in a frame and hung it in a  museum, lol. This woman actually took her time to look.  I felt honored.

So I hope you all have a nice warm weekend - for us it is Labor Day weekend soon and since we live in  tourist area it's going to be so crowded and hot.  I will probably stay home and catch up on blogging and keeping the birds water fresh and cool.  Maybe the frog will come out for a drink.

WHERE IS "THAT" COMING FROM

These two blackbirds were standing around talking when one of them finally realized they were standing near the portable outside toilets at the lake.  They took off flying quickly after that.

LOOKING BACK AT THIS GUY

I like the way he struts and he has cute feet.

These were taken on a trip years ago to an area where we visited Arroyo Grande in California.  The roosters rule the back side of town near the creek and every trip I've ever taken there I make sure to stop and photograph them.  This one just seemed to like hanging around for his photos.
