THE STELLARS LIKE THE NEW ADDITION TO THE DECK

They were hanging around the bird house - probably because i put peanuts in it - and also because they are nosey and wanted to check it out.  It's the first time since my sister brought this to me that I have put it outside.

We finaly had some heat up here in the mountains - going to be 70 or so today.  Glad to be out walking and enjoying our own lake over the last few days.

One of the many seasonal lakes up here in the mountains looks so beautiful since we have had so much snow and rain (drought-busting rain).

This is ArrowBear lake - a small area with a small population.

A FEMALE GREAT TAILED GRACKLE

What a pretty bird.  A grackle is a song bird of the American Blackbird family.  I find them so pretty and often have seen them at a lake over in the high desert.  This one I saw at the coast.

BEAUTIFUL SEAGULL

I find all gulls beautiful even if they are nasty and mean at times.  They are definitely survivors and will do anything to grab food from other birds or humans.  I've seen them swoop down and grab food out of someone's hand while the  person was walking along enjoying their snack.  The first thing I do when I go to the coast is look for the gulls.  I took these last January at Shell Beach.

Soon, not sure when, I'll be heading back up the coast to enjoy more time with the shorebirds and of course family.

Until I do I have my photos from last January, many of which I'v'e never edited or posted.

LIVING IN A FREEZER

A few days before the freeze came I took these photos while walking the lake.  Four days ago we got an inch of snow - no big deal, right?  Well it was really more like ice and very little melt has gone on.  We've been watching cars trying to make it up the road and sliding back down.  I think today it has gotten better but I haven't been out yet.  I would rather have a foot of snow than less than an inch of ice.  On our street we get very little direct sun this time of year so there is not much melting going on.

MORE PISMO BEACH SEAGULLS ON THANKSGIVING MORNING

An enjoyable morning standing on the pier and seeing the reflections of the seagulls - it was a beautiful morning and so many people were out enjoying the  November weather.  I took way too many photos of the seagulls and will post a few more later.

THANKSGIVING DAY - PISMO BEACH MORNING

This pelican was hanging around the pier and a couple of guys fishing off the pier offered him a treat so he was being very protective of his snack while people walked by.  He went after one guy but only scared him and made him jump away.
