SEE THE HUMMING BIRD IN THE CACTUS

These photos were taken at Riverside Botanical Gardens - if Mike hadn't pointed out the hummingbird I would have missed it.

Ouch...I had seen a caterpillar in a very spiny looking tree and photographed it and wondered why it could crawl along those "needles" and not be hurt but if I touch them it would really hurt...now you show a hummingbird among the "needles" and it seem to be doing okay also...hmmm. I would miss a lot of things if Ken didn't point them out like Mike does. ;)

It looks like the hummingbird chose this place to stay safe. I don't think any predator would try to get in there! I read somewhere that some hummingbirds build nests in hawk territory to be protected. It certainly makes sense. No other bird would dare fly into that area!

Laura, I know - I've been on walks with you and Ken and like Mike, Ken has pointed out things I would miss because I'm always looking at the larger picture and missing details like little hummers in cacti.

I think you're right Martha - makes sense it's a safety thing - dfidn't think of that before.

Hi BAili - thanks! Hope your day is great.
