We have pigeons who land on the deck here and they are so nervous we can't even move in the slightest way without them flying off. I like them around because in the back yard whatever seed the birds throw out of their feeders, which is quite a lot, the pigeons come later and clean it up. Whatever is in some bags of bird seed that the birds don't care for you can watch them pick it out with their beak and throw it go the ground. There are at times at least 20 pigeons in the back yard having a feast.

IT'S SO OFFENSIVE
Says the pigeon - who is sometimes referred to as a flying rat. They don't like it much and they beckon one to look closer at the iridescent feathers around their neck and their beautiful eyes rimmed in red eyeliner. They are quite a sight to see up close. They are just hungry and always waiting for opportunities to eat what we reject.

TWO FRIENDS FROM SEVERAL YEARS AGO - PIGEON AND GROUND SQUIRREL AT MORRO BAY
The day this was taken is as fresh in my memory as yesterday is. My sis and her husband and Mike and I were standing near some rocks at Morro Bay State Beach when these two were near my feet as I looked down. I remember one squirrel was actually beginning to nibble on my jeans near my ankle.
There's always something exciting to see in Morro Bay. I need to go back.
What a day - beautiful soft rain and about 10 minutes ago the skies broke open and what a downpour!
and in my yard yesterday one of the first ground squirrels I've seen for spring. They were absent all winter. Tree squirrels have been here year around and eating much of the bird seed I put out.
Ground squirrels are a little more polite.
