First off - the "Brown Creeper" - this guy only travels up the tree, very quickly, picking out the bugs on and behind the bark . It goes very quickly and I can sit in the chair on the front deck and enjoy watching him and also his equally quick footed friend, the White Breasted NutHatch.
It's quite a scene to watch when they are both on the same tree. The Nuthatch usually travels in a downward route while the Brown Creeper travels up. Sometimes they pass each other and the rascal in me hopes a fight will break out so I can get some good photographs - but
It never happens - ...they don't pay any attention to each other and go about their business of keeping
my trees clean which lucky me - means less bugs get in the house.
They are extremely hard to photograph as they are quick quick quick. I would say in less than 2 minutes they can clean that entire tree. I've never seen it land to get water like so many of the other birds around here. I actually never knew how much birds drink - but having put many receptacles of different sizes and shapes in the yard - I watch how often they stop in for a drink - which is a lot.
I know this post is probably getting way over the time anyone wants to spend reading it but I
have to finish - this is the white breasted nuthatch - relative of the red breasted which I prefer more - but less opportunity happens for me to photograph her.
this is the bird that travels down the tree as the creeper travels up and is responsible for also keeping that tree clean. It does drink quite a bit.
And visits the feeders also - never saw the creeper do that yet.
This fellow below is also quite the scavenger who along with the pesky pigeons helps keep the ground clean from any dropped seed. He also tries to climb trees which is hilarious to watch as it is a ground squirrel - not a tree squirrel.
I have a love/hate relationship with this squirrel - when I chase it off or spray it with the hose I think - ...hmmm....what if it is true and I meet every animal I ever interacted with in Heaven. I clean up my act quickly and offer him peanuts and actually don't try to pull a fast one on him by throwing them out on the ground ( the peanuts) - watching him go towards them and then grabbing them up again laughing (no - i really don't do that but yes, I want to at times).
This is my very very clean tree.
And this is where I relax while the birds are busy doing their chores. I can sit for hours watching them labor.

Great creeper shots! I very rarely get one here and never get very good shots. They blend in so well. How can you hate that very cute squirrel??? Now, the raccoons that are bugging me....that's a different story.....or the mole that is tunneling all over my bird feeding area.
the squirrel - well - it's just so squirrely - and it likes to inhale in one large scoop to where it's cheeks are bulging - the peanuts i put out for the jays. I can't afford to feed this thing and the birds. I buy big bags of peanuts at Costco - about five a month - and I won't go higher than that, lol.
Raccoons I know they are here but only seen one in my yard once. I know they get in the trash though. I agree - the mole would be an irritant big time.
The creepers here are so darn fast i can't believe i caught him in action and they are somewhat clear. I sit in that chair and wait and wait.
Such a wonderful place to sit and watch all the wonderful creatures that pay you a visit ..
Wonderful shots, Sandy ...smiles ...
Well, you made that very interesting to read and the photos are wonderful! I love your easy, breezy blogs where so much is going on that most people wouldn't even notice! And that is a mighty cozy spot to sit and watch the 'workers' take care of the clean-up!
WOW Sandy how spectacular I love trees and those little darlings that clean them I've never heard of such things, how lucky you are, how beautiful you place is, I'm happy that you can live in a place where you can photograph what you love most...I'm very happy for you ;_
Oh those sweet little ones, with their little curved beaks... The better to get at tiny critters! Precious.
A perfect chair, and spot, for a lovely afternoon of watching... Sweet birdies work and have a drink of water. :-)))) Looks good to me!

So glad to see you say..... Because I too, consider it, when writing posts. -sigh-
Say what? That a post is probably too wordy, for readers to stick with it.
And isn't this AWFUL???? That we have had to get to this point, with blogging????
To the point, where we know (personally... sigh) that too many words, will tend to make reader's eyes "glaze over." Just seeing too many words, in a post. May turn people away...
-sigh- We want pretty pictures, and as minimal a number of words, as can be achieved.
The Rush-Rush-Hurry-Hurry-Instantaneous-Now-Quickly-Quickly-Quickly Way of Life... Has taken us all over!!!!!!
-sigh-
And that is why, I made a separate blog... "Here there be more words"... For when I feel like rambling on, about something. Knowing that no one will click on it, unless they want to read a ramble.
-sigh-
Tessa~
